The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Case Western Reserve University honored Aretha Franklin at the 16th annual American Music Masters Series during a weeklong celebration October 31 through November 5, 2011 . A tribute concert honoring Aretha Franklin was held the evening of November 5, 2011 at Playhouse Square's State Theater in Cleveland, Ohio. The Tribute concert featured artists including Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees Dennis Edwards (of the Temptations), Ronald Isley (of the Isley Brothers), Jerry Butler and Spooner Oldham, as well as 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominee Chaka Khan, Ms. Lauryn Hill and her band including Doug Wimbish, Carla Cook, Kris Bowers, Melinda Doolittle, Mike Farris and Cissy Houston. Ms. Franklin closed out the evening joined by Mr. Edwards, Mr. Butler, Mr. Isley and Ms. Houston with a surprise performance of Leon Russel's "A Song For You".
