Founded by legendary Grammy award winning rock band Living Colour bassist Doug Wimbish, Doug's personal venture, WimBash, continues to be both a vision and a mission. Starting with a Tack>>Head reunion in 2004 in his hometown of Hartford, CT as a musical get-together for family and friends and as a way to give back to the community, Doug's WimBash has become a highly anticipated event, rapidly expanding to cities across the US. and beyond. The annual WimBash, as it was named in 2005, features Doug playing with a number of world-class collaborators, as well as select local bands, providing the opportunity to see musicians, who more often play large venues around the world, in a much more intimate setting. WimBash is unique in that it brings together an eclectic group of music genres under one roof, utilizing the local talent alongside well-known artists while working together with a local foundation or organization in giving back directly to the community. In its seventh year, WimBash is growing in popularity and attracting more and more talented musicians to his NovaSound family. Doug and his production company, NovaSound Studio, are bringing the WimBash Music Festival Series on the road while keeping the vision of WimBash as a community and family based, organic, relaxed and educational event. In early 2012, Doug is partnering up with The Miami Design Preservation League, the School of Rock and the DREAM Project to bring WimBash to the cities of Miami, Philadelphia and Cabarete, Dominican Republic. WimBash returns this spring to New Orleans during the famed New Orleans Jazz Fest! Visit Doug's tour page for more information and cities!

Living Colour delivered a kinetic, powerful, critically acclaimed rendition of Robert Johnson's "Preachin' Blues (Up Jumped The Devil)" as part of the "Robert Johnson at 100" Benefit Concert, live at the Apollo Theater on March 6, 2012. Their performance earned them the first standing ovation of the evening amongst blazing talent including Bettye Lavette, Keb' Mo, James Blood Ulmer, Taj Mahal, Otis Taylor, Sam Moore, Todd Rundgren, Elvis Costello, Macy Gray and more. Sarah Dash joined Corey Glover and the band on vocals for a performance of "Little Queen of Spades" while Shemekia Copeland lent her vocals to "Stop Breakin' Down".

"Also on hand were Living Colour, who burned through an excellent version of Johnson's "Preachin' Blues" during the show. You can watch fan-filmed footage from the performance below."

"But the act to get the biggest reaction from the audience was Living Colour, who brought heavy metal thunder to Johnson’s blues, reminding everyone that blues combined with loud guitars is still a potent blend. Their “Preaching Blues” got the first standing ovation of the night, and later on they collaborated with blues singer Shemekia Copeland on “Stop Breakin’ Down” and then with Sarah Dash (a former member of funk group Labelle and also Keith Richards‘ X-Pensive Winos) on “Little Queen Of Spades.”

"But the evening's genius was in its pairings, showing off the music's versatility in yet another way. Living Colour surprisingly provoked the night's only true standing ovation when guitarist Vernon Reid's unrestrained, very rock solo on "Preachin' Blues" transitioned into a showcase for showstopping voices as singer Corey Glover got cozy with Shemeka Copeland on "Stop Breakin' Down."

"But to reiterate, Living Colour killed it. They kind of reminded everyone just how exciting, explosive and vibrant it can be when the blues is brought to life with LOUD electric guitars. But I have to ask how it is that Corey Glover seems to age in reverse? His voice is amazing, and he seems to have more control of it now than he did two decades ago. Vernon Reid is just a monster on guitar. Their performance by themselves was great, as were their collaborations with Shemekia Copeland and Sarah Dash."

"Rock and soul took over with Living Colour’s amped-up “Preachin’ Blues,” with lead singer Corey Glover peeling paint with his high notes and Vernon Reid tearing out chunks of molten pyrotechnics (in case we forgot how integral chewing scenery and cuttin’ heads are to the blues)."

Celebrating a Faustian Bargain ‘Robert Johnson at 100’ at the Apollo Theater
"...the other, Living Colour, engaged the material on its own terms. The band worked “Preachin’ Blues (Up Jumped the Devil)” into an opus, grounded in heavy churn and the prowling intensity of its lead singer, Corey Glover, and its guitarist, Vernon Reid. Afterward many of the concertgoers leaped to their feet."
